The world is bigger than our backyard. But sometimes it's hard to see beyond it. With the prevalence of neighborhood social media groups, unvetted citizen journalists, agenda-driven corporations and a general barrage of information, finding good information can be difficult.
I've found two primary ways to combat misinformation. One is by reading extensively. The other is travel. On this site, I bring readers both. Our weekly newsletter includes links to several high-impact, long-form stories that speak not only to important world events, but to how it impacts us all. This is not breaking news, nor is it domestic political coverage. This is about our true backyard: the entire planet.
We'll also travel together. The blog features shorter dispatches from a wide variety of destinations and offers an insider's look into what it's like to actually live in that place. Sure, major attractions are nice, five-star hotels are comfortable and the beaten path is there for a reason, but I find the most interesting - and rewarding - elements of travel are what happens after you get off the tourist trail. Together we'll dive deeper into destinations well-known and nontraditional.
Join us on this journey beyond our daily lives and into the broader global community.
